A panel discussion on “Border Management in Nepal: Dimensions and Challenges” was held at the APF Command and Staff College on 26 August 2026. The panelists included former Foreign Secretary Mr. Madhu Raman Acharya, former Joint Secretary Mr. Pradip Raj Kanel, former DG of Survey Department Mr. Buddhi Narayan Shrestha and Assistant Professor Mr. Gaurav Bhattarai. The programme was chaired by former Foreign Secretary Madhu Raman Acharya and moderated by Asst. Prof. Gaurav Bhattarai.
Commandant of the APF Command and Staff College, DIG Rajesh Uprety; SSP Narendra Bam and Deputy Director General Mr. Sushil Dangol from the Department of Survey participated as representatives. The audience and primary beneficiaries of the programme were the Student Officers of the 11th APF Command and Staff Course.
Participants discussed the roles of the Armed Police Force, Nepal and the existing coordination mechanisms in border security and management. During the session, emerging dynamics in border security were examined and the panelists provided valuable insights along with key recommendations. The session commenced with welcome remarks and an overview of the panel discussion and concluded with the decision to prepare a comprehensive panel report incorporating the inputs and recommendations raised during the deliberations.
