On March 9, 2025, the APF Command and Staff College hosted a one-day conference on ‘The Evolving Role of the UN in Peacekeeping in Modern Conflicts.’ The event featured a distinguished panel of experts, namely, Former Foreign Secretary Mr. Madhu Raman Acharya, Former Foreign Secretary Mr. Durga Prasad Bhattarai, Lt Gen Paban Jung Thapa (Retd.), SSP Amod Gurung (Retd.), Advocate Apurb Khatiwada. The panelists shared their insights on the shifting dynamics of peacekeeping operations in contemporary conflicts and Nepal’s Role in UN Peacekeeping. Student officers from the 9th APF Command and Staff Course presented conference papers, while commentators provided critical analysis and feedback on the Papers and presentations. The panelists, alongside the distinguished participants, engaged in rich discussions, exploring the challenges and opportunities faced by the United Nations in maintaining global peace and security in today’s complex conflict scenarios.
